xcode for Snowfall Leopard x.half dozen.8
Howdy,
I don't have my new Mac notwithstanding so am looking for xcode for snow leopard ten.six.8. I read that I want xcode 4.2 but that only appears for King of beasts. Do I really desire "Xcode three.two.5 and iOS SDK 4.2" which is available and will that piece of work with LiveCode? FYI - I have a paid dev account (I've read that xcode 4.2 is not gratis similar all other versions).
Thanks for your help!

Re: xcode for Snowfall Leopard 10.6.viii
Thanks, simply I still need to know which version will work on snow leopard OSX 10.6.8...
LiveCode set-up says:
When running on Snow Leopard, LiveCode uses the iOS v.0 SDK to produce device builds. This is available as part of Xcode 4.2.
The four.3 and 5.0 simulators are supported on Snowfall Leopard.
apple lists four.1 through 4.3.3 for Lion, and 3.x versions for snow leopard...
tnx

Re: xcode for Snowfall Leopard 10.6.eight
I discovered in an Apple Dev Forum that yous accept to be both a paid iOS dev and a paid OSX dev to see the download link.
No, that is definitely not truthful. Yous *do* have to have registered an Apple ID, and you lot practise take to prepare a link to a credit card business relationship as function of the process, but information technology's not necessary for any coin to alter easily. The XCode download is free from Apple, although yous have to practice a *lot* of searching around the dev site to come up upward with previous versions.
I'yard non at my Snow Leopard auto at the moment, but afterward on I can check which version of XCode is running on information technology.

While an estimated 19% of Mac users are notwithstanding using Snow Leopard, it may be worth noting that Apple appears to have stopped providing security updates for it, suggesting the need to move forwards to later versions:

Re: xcode for Snow Leopard 10.6.8
I'm not sure that's entirely relevant: my old mac mini (the i that's running Snow Leopard) has a 32-bit Intel processor then its upgrade path is quite express. Our mac air and macbook pro are upgraded to 10.9, but the mini will never go there. And so I have different versions of Xcode on the different macs.

That seems to be a fundamental reason so many even so use SL, which is why so many news sites have been far more, shall nosotros say, "expressive" than Ars most the seeming abandonment of such a large portion of the Mac user base.
I only mention information technology for those who keep their older Macs connected to the Internet. Similar XP soon, it may be safer to motility such machines to LAN-simply for testing.

No, that is definitely not truthful. You lot *exercise* have to have registered an Apple tree ID, and you do have to fix a link to a credit card account as part of the process, only it's non necessary for whatever money to change easily. I'chiliad not at my Snow Leopard machine at the moment, just after I can check which version of XCode is running on information technology.
From what I've read on diverse forums, I empathize that iv.2 was the version where Apple decided to showtime charging for Xcode simply and so quickly reversed their decision. Then versions prior to and after iv.2 are free. There are many posts by people not existence able to run across this version until they accept a paid Dev business relationship. Try logging in to the dev center with an Apple ID that does non have a paid account - I'll bet you a beer that the download is not available.

Hullo Roddy,

Cool. Beer.
I missed the function where you were looking for only Xcode 4.2. At any rate they're all available for download from developer.apple tree.com (yes, without a paid Apple dev account, because I refuse to do that), even 4.2, although iv.two does say that it'due south for Lion. The nearly contempo Xcode version that Apple specifically says is for Snowfall Leopard is 3.2.6. That's if you take Apple's word for it.
